Share Academy is a partnership project between UCL, University of the Arts London, and the London Museums Group whose aim is to build sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships between the higher education sector and specialist museums in London.
Arts Council strategic funding supports Share Academy and over the next two years support and advice will be available through the scheme. To help museums develop relationships and enter into collaborations with UCL and UAL organisations we are pleased to announce that Share Academy can offer small grants to help broker and kick start partnerships. Partnerships should be of proven benefit to both sides and should be able to demonstrate how they can be sustained in the long term.
If you would like to consider building a relationship with UCL or UAL or already have one that you would like to develop further please read the guidance notes and museums advice – these can be downloaded by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page. You can also download advice and guidance about how to identify potential partners and built a good working relationship with Higher Education Institutions from the Share Academy Resources page on the London Museums Group website
The deadline for applications is in late October so that should give you plenty of time to think about potential partnership projects – perhaps looking at areas such as branding, games design or new technologies where museums lack the skills and the HE sector lacks public engagement. Case studies of the projects run in the first round are published on the web site and might help give you an idea of what works (and what doesn’t). Projects should be timetabled to finish in under 12 months, with a final completion date of January 2015.
SEPTEMBER 2013: SHARE ACADEMY – FREE ADVISORY WORKSHOPS
On Wednesday 11th and Thursday 19th September between 14:00 and 17:00, Share Academy will be hosting advisory workshops at UCL, with tea and coffee provided.
These workshops will act as a forum to forge collaborative working relationships between academics and museums, and also to provide detailed guidance on the application for funding process. Please save the date in your diary so you don’t miss this opportunity to meet colleagues from across the sectors to discuss how you can better collaborate to share skills, knowledge, and resources with the help of Share Academy.
