Communications Voluntary Placement | Exhibitions Specialism
The Foundling Museum is looking for an excellent communicator, with meticulous attention to detail and an interest in a career in Museums communications and marketing for an exciting three month voluntary placement. This placement will focus on communications for a temporary exhibition, working on Clare Twomey’s Exchange.
Duties will include
Communications – two days per week
- Collate press cuttings and share with staff members
- Update the Exchange exhibition website
- Data entry of the exhibition visitor log book
- Update the ‘good deed’ feedback page
- Develop ideas for marketing the Exchange website
- Conduct visitor surveys, engaging with members of the public
Front of House – one day per week
- Welcoming visitors
- Selling admissions and shop items
- Gallery stewarding

Founded in 1707 the Society of Antiquaries of London is Britain’s senior learned society concerned with the study and understanding of the past. It does this by engaging in and supporting conservation, research and dissemination of knowledge of the material remains of the past.
It has a collection of some 50,000 prehistoric, classical and medieval antiquities and paintings at Burlington House, London and owns Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire, the country home of William Morris.
We are looking for a Collections Manager to manage the museum collection at Burlington House and improve access to it. You will also provide support for collections care at Kelmscott Manor. Key tasks during the 12 months will be preparing our Accreditation renewal application and reviewing our documentation systems.
You will be a highly motivated and experienced museum professional with a proven track record of collections management within an Accredited museum, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced, energetic and creative Museum Curator to provide maternity leave cover for one year from September 2013.
Working as the Senior Professional in the Museum, you will take the lead on the management, conservation and interpretation of museum collections, including the world-renowned Eadweard Muybridge collection, and promoting the use of the Museum to a wide range of audiences through the permanent displays and an annual programme of temporary exhibitions and learning events.
You will have experience of supervising staff, managing collections and developing and designing exhibitions. You will have excellent organisational, planning and interpersonal skills, be responsive to partnership opportunities and have the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
You will work on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with occasional late evening cover and Saturday working.
