For centuries Richmond has been a centre of fashion and the arts, as well as home to several of Britain’s monarchs. Since its foundation in 1988, this small Museum has celebrated the rich heritage of Richmond, Ham, Petersham and Kew and, through the regular exhibition and education programmes, all other areas of the borough.

The Museum is part funded by  a commissioning contract from the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.  It actively looks for funding for its temporary exhibitions and has a successful fund-raising campaign which is enabling it to refurbish and modernise its premises and displays.  The Museum is well supported by its Royal Patron, its patrons and its volunteer trustees
